I have to say that I think 9 months is probably my favorite baby age to photograph.  Once a baby learns to sit and then pulls up to standing, it’s a whole new world.  This cutie is not a stranger to the studio, she is a Baby Steps participant and I have watched her grow up since her newborn portrait session. She wasn’t the happiest camper I’ve ever photographed, but we did manage to coax a few smiles and cute expressions from her.

So how do I take an unhappy child and still get cute photos? My secret is to trick the baby into thinking she’s having fun.  I just keep playing with her until she really is happy, if only for a few fleeting moments.  I like to think of myself as a baby magnet. That’s what makes me a successful family, toddler & baby’s first-year photographer!
